## Biography

Noreen Gammill was an American actress whose career spanned radio, voice work and television. Born on 12 December 1898 in St. Louis, Missouri, she began performing on radio in the early 1930s and became known for her role as Mrs Martha Conklin on the long-running series *Our Miss Brooks* (1948–1957). She also appeared in the 1933 animated short *I've Got to Sing a Torch Song*.

Gammill provided the uncredited voice of Catty the Elephant in Walt Disney's *Dumbo* (1941). Her later television credits included guest roles on *The Andy Griffith Show* (1963–1964), *Sanford and Son* (1972) and *Maude* (1976). She died on 21 December 1988 in San Diego, California.
