## Biography

Norma Crane (1928–1973) was an American actress of stage, film and television. Born Norma Anna Bella Zuckerman in New York City, she was raised in El Paso, Texas, and studied drama at Texas State College for Women. She was a member of Elia Kazan's Actors Studio and made her Broadway debut in Arthur Miller's *The Crucible*.

She appeared in numerous live television dramas in the 1950s and guest-starred in series including *Alfred Hitchcock Presents*, *Gunsmoke*, *The Untouchables*, *Have Gun – Will Travel* and *The Fugitive* (1965), playing Mrs. Mavis Hull. Her film roles included Ellie Martin in *Tea and Sympathy* (1956) and Golde in *Fiddler on the Roof* (1971). She was married to writer-producer Herb Sargent.
