## Biography

Norman Campbell was a Canadian television director, producer and composer. Born in Los Angeles to Canadian parents, he grew up in Vancouver and joined CBC Radio there in 1948 before moving to Toronto in 1952 to work on early CBC Television broadcasts.

He directed episodes of the American series *All in the Family* (1971), *The Mary Tyler Moore Show* (1970) and *One Day at a Time* (1975), as well as six episodes of *Fraggle Rock* (1983). He is best known for co-writing the musical *Anne of Green Gables*, first produced for television and later staged internationally.

Campbell received the Order of Canada in 1978 and the Order of Ontario in 1998. He died in Toronto in 2004.
