## Biography

Norman Savage (1930–1973) was an English film editor. He began his career as an assistant editor on David Lean's *Hobson's Choice* (1954) and served as first assistant editor to Anne V. Coates on Lean's *Lawrence of Arabia* (1962).

Savage was credited as editor on several feature films, including *Doctor Zhivago* (1965), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Film Editing; *The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie* (1969); and *Ryan's Daughter* (1970), for which he was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Editing. He also edited *Lady Caroline Lamb* (1972). Savage died of leukaemia while working on the latter film.
