## Biography

Norman Stewart was a British television director and production assistant. Born in Canada, he joined the BBC as a production assistant and began working on *Doctor Who* in 1963 on its second serial, *The Daleks*.

He served as production assistant on numerous episodes across the first four Doctors, including *Planet of Giants*, *The Web Planet*, *The Savages*, *The Underwater Menace*, *Day of the Daleks* and *The Invisible Enemy*. Stewart later directed two serials for the Fourth Doctor: *Underworld* (1978) and *The Power of Kroll* (1978–1979).

His other directing credits include episodes of *The Newcomers* (1967–1969), *The Omega Factor* (1979) and *Emmerdale Farm* (1980). He also worked as a production manager on series such as *Tenko*. Stewart left the television industry in the mid-1980s and is now deceased.
