## Biography

Odette Myrtil (born Odette Laure Clotilde Quignarde; 28 June 1898 – 18 November 1978) was a French-born American actress, singer and violinist. She began her career as a violinist on the vaudeville stage in Paris at the age of 14 and studied violin in Brussels. She later performed in London revues, including *The Bing Boys Are Here* (1916), and appeared in numerous Broadway productions from the mid-1920s onwards.

Myrtil made her film debut in a speaking role as Renée de Penable in *Dodsworth* (1936). She went on to appear in supporting parts in more than 25 films, often portraying elegant European characters, including Delphine Detaille in *Kitty Foyle* (1940), Madame Bartholdi in *Yankee Doodle Dandy* (1942) and an uncredited role in *Strangers on a Train* (1951). She also worked as a costume designer on several pictures in the 1940s and 1950s.
