## Biography

Oja Kodar is a Croatian actress, screenwriter and director. Born Olga Palinkaš in 1941 near Zagreb, she met Orson Welles in 1961 while he was filming *The Trial* in Yugoslavia. Welles gave her the professional name Oja Kodar and the pair began a long personal and professional partnership that lasted until his death in 1985.

Kodar appeared in several of Welles's projects, including *F for Fake* (1973) and *The Other Side of the Wind* (2018), on which she also received a writing credit. She is credited as an actor in the 1969 film *The Merchant of Venice* and appears in archive footage in *Don Quixote* (1992). She has also directed and written films such as *Jaded* (1989) and co-directed *Orson Welles: The One-Man Band* (1995). After Welles's death she inherited materials from his unfinished projects and donated them to film archives.
