Okowita is a production designer, art director and set decorator. Early credits include set decoration on *Deadly Blessing* (1981) and art direction on *Torch Song Trilogy* (1988), *Steel Magnolias* (1989, as Michael Okowita), *Twin Peaks* (1990) and *Ed Wood* (1994). Later work encompasses production design on series including *The Fugitive* (2000–2001), *Everybody Hates Chris* (2005–2009) and six episodes of *Bones* (2007–2008).
