## Biography

Oleg Negin (born 2 July 1970) is a Russian screenwriter and novelist. He was born in Moscow.

Negin published two novels in 2004, *P. Ushkin* and *Cypress in the Backyard*. He began collaborating with director Andrey Zvyagintsev in 2005 and co-wrote the screenplays for *The Banishment* (2007), *Elena* (2011), *Leviathan* (2014) and *Loveless* (2017).

Their work on *Leviathan* received the Best Screenplay Award at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Negin and Zvyagintsev were nominated for the European Film Award for Best Screenwriter for *Loveless*. In 2010 they received the Sundance Institute/NHK Award for the *Elena* script, and Negin was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2018.
