## Biography

Oliver T. Marsh was an American cinematographer. He was born on 30 January 1892 in Kansas City, Missouri, and died on 5 May 1941 in Hollywood, California. Marsh worked primarily for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, contributing to more than eighty films at the studio from the silent era through the early sound period.

He served as director of photography on *David Copperfield* (1935), *A Tale of Two Cities* (1935), *The Great Ziegfeld* (1936), *San Francisco* (1936), *The Women* (1939) and *Another Thin Man* (1939). With Allen Davey, he received an Academy Honorary Award for the colour cinematography of *Sweethearts* (1938) and was nominated for Best Cinematography (Colour) for *Bitter Sweet* (1940).

Marsh was the brother of actresses Mae Marsh and Marguerite Marsh, and editor Frances Marsh. He was the father of jazz saxophonist Warne Marsh.
