Born on 25 October 1942 in Florence, he began his career with small roles in Spaghetti Westerns and other genre films before gaining wider recognition in 1970 as the lead in the television series *E le stelle stanno a guardare*.

Guerrini has appeared in numerous films including *The Conformist* (1970), *Waterloo* (1970), *Keoma* (1976), *Double Team* (1997) and *The Bourne Identity* (2002), in which he played Giancarlo.
