## Biography

Osgood Perkins was an American actor. Also credited as James Ridley Osgood Perkins, he appeared on stage and in films from the 1920s until his death.

He made his Broadway debut in 1924 in *Beggar on Horseback* and went on to appear in 24 productions over the next dozen years, including *The Front Page* and *Uncle Vanya*. A Harvard College graduate, he also appeared in a number of silent films before taking roles in talkies.

Perkins is known for his performance as John 'Johnny' Lovo in *Scarface* (1932). He died in 1937. He was the father of actor Anthony Perkins and was posthumously inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 1981.
