## Biography

Oz Scott (born Osborne Scott) is an American television and film director and producer. Born in Hampton, Virginia, he trained at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, earning an MFA, and began his career in theatre at Washington, D.C.’s Arena Stage, where he managed the improvisational company The Living Stage.

He directed the Broadway production of *For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf* (1977), for which he received a Drama Desk Award, and his first feature film, *Bustin’ Loose* (1981). Scott has directed numerous television series, including episodes of *Hill Street Blues* (1981), *The Cosby Show*, *L.A. Law*, *Chicago Hope*, *Boston Legal*, *Criminal Minds*, *Gotham*, *Chicago P.D.*, *NCIS*, *S.W.A.T.* and *Black Lightning*.

His television films include *The Cheetah Girls* (2003), for which he received a Directors Guild of America nomination, and *Play’d – A Hip Hop Story* (2002). He has also received an NAACP Image Award and other honours.
