## Biography

Pamela Britton (born Armilda Jane Owens) was an American actress. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on 19 March 1923, she died on 17 June 1974. Her mother, Ethel Owen, was a stage, radio and early television actress. Britton attended State Teacher's Normal School in Milwaukee and began her career in stage productions.

She appeared in the original Broadway production of *Oklahoma!* (as Gertie and understudy to Celeste Holm) and later took over the role of Ado Annie on tour. She played Meg Brockie in the Broadway production of *Brigadoon* (1947). Her first major film role was as the Girl from Brooklyn in *Anchors Aweigh* (1945). She is also known for her performance as Paula Gibson in *D.O.A.* (1949) and as Lorelei Brown in the television series *My Favorite Martian* (1963–1966).
