He is best known for playing Mike Teevee in the film *Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory* (1971). Born in Boston, Themmen began his career as a child with commercials and voice-overs. He appeared on Broadway in *Mame* (1967) and *The Rothschilds* (1970) before his role in *Willy Wonka*. He later took a hiatus from acting at age 14 and earned a B.F.A. in theatre from New York University. Themmen has worked in business, including as a real estate broker and casting director.
