## Biography

Pat Walshe (1900–1991) was an American actor. He is best known for playing Nikko, the leader of the Winged Monkeys, in the film *The Wizard of Oz* (1939).

Born in New York City, he began performing as a child in vaudeville and appeared in several Broadway productions, including *A Good Little Devil* (1913) and *Fine and Dandy* (1930). He also worked in circuses and specialised in animal impersonations. His other film roles were uncredited parts in *Pinky* (1949) and *Panic in the Streets* (1950).

Walshe was the last surviving credited cast member of *The Wizard of Oz* at the time of his death in Los Angeles.
