Patricia Resnick is an American screenwriter and producer. Born on 9 February 1953 in Miami, Florida, she studied at the University of Southern California, where she met director Robert Altman. She began her career working with him on *3 Women* (1977, uncredited) and *A Wedding* (1978).

Resnick is best known for writing the screenplay for *9 to 5* (1980). Her other film credits include *Quintet* (1979), *Straight Talk* (1992) and *Maxie* (1985). She has written episodes of television series including *Better Things* (2016) and *Tales of the City* (2019), and served as a producer on *Mad Men* and *Better Things*. She wrote the book for the stage musical *9 to 5* and received a Tony nomination for it. She appeared as herself in Altman’s *The Player* (1992).
