## Biography

Patricia Zipprodt (24 February 1925 – 17 July 1999) was an American costume designer. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she attended Bradford Junior College and Wellesley College before studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Her first Broadway credit was *The Potting Shed* in 1957, after which she designed costumes for more than 50 productions.

Zipprodt worked extensively in theatre, ballet and opera, including designs for the New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and the Metropolitan Opera. She received Tony Awards for her work on *Fiddler on the Roof* (1964), *Cabaret* (1967) and *Sweet Charity* (1986), and was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame in 1992. Her film credits include *The Graduate* (1967) and *1776* (1972); she also designed for television adaptations such as *The Glass Menagerie* (1973) and *Alice in Wonderland* (1983).
