## Biography

Patrick O'Neal was an American actor and restaurateur. Born Patrick Wisdom O'Neal on 26 September 1927 in Ocala, Florida, he studied drama at the University of Florida and trained at the Actors Studio and Neighbourhood Playhouse in New York. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and began his career on stage and in television.

O'Neal appeared on Broadway, notably in Tennessee Williams's *The Night of the Iguana*. His film roles include *The Way We Were* (1973), *The Stepford Wives* (1975), *The Stuff* (1985), *Q & A* (1990) and *Under Siege* (1992), in which he played Captain Adams. He also featured in television series such as *Columbo*, *The Twilight Zone*, *Murder, She Wrote* and *New York Stories* (1989).

In addition to acting, O'Neal owned restaurants in New York, including The Ginger Man. He died in New York City on 9 September 1994.
