## Biography

Paul Brightwell is an English actor and director. He began acting in the mid-1980s, with an early leading role as Uriah Heep in the BBC series *David Copperfield* (1986). He has appeared in numerous stage productions, films and television programmes.

His film credits include Quartermaster Hichens in *Titanic* (1997), Clive in *Sliding Doors* (1998) and Cubby in *Last Night in Soho* (2021). On television he has played Sir Percival Turner in *Outlander* (2017), the Surgeon in *Doctor Who* (2017) and Doctor Glubb in *Pennyworth* (2022). Brightwell has also directed theatre, including the British premieres of Heiner Müller's *Hamletmachine* at the Gate Notting Hill and Witkiewicz's *They* at the Polish Theatre in Hammersmith.
