## Biography

Paul Dickson (1920–2011) was a British director and writer. Born in Cardiff, he served in the Second World War before working as a cameraman and entering documentary filmmaking with World Wide Pictures. His early credits include the award-winning shorts *The Undefeated* (1951) and *David* (1951), made for the Festival of Britain.

Dickson directed episodes of several 1960s television series, including one episode of *The Avengers* (1968), three of *Department S* (1969) and five of *The Champions* (1968). He also worked in advertising and later served as head of direction at the National Film and Television School.
