## Biography

Paul Dinello is an American actor, comedian and writer. Born on 28 November 1962 in Oak Park, Illinois, he graduated from DePaul University and trained at Chicago institutions including The Second City, the Improv Institute and the Annoyance Theatre. He performed with The Second City's touring company in the late 1980s.

Dinello is best known for his long collaborations with Amy Sedaris and Stephen Colbert. He appeared in and co-created the sketch series *Exit 57* (1995–1996) and played Geoffrey Jellineck in the Comedy Central series *Strangers with Candy* (1999–2000). He directed, produced and co-wrote the 2005 film version of *Strangers with Candy*.

He played Mr. Rooney in the 2008 film *Be Kind Rewind*. Dinello has also worked as a writer and supervising producer on *The Colbert Report* and *The Late Show with Stephen Colbert*, and directed the 2008 Nickelodeon film *Gym Teacher: The Movie*.
