## Biography

Paul Hepker is a South African composer, pianist and musical director. Born in Zimbabwe on 17 December 1967, he trained as a concert pianist under Adolphe Hallis and worked as a musical director in South African theatre before moving to Los Angeles in 1997.

He is known for his film scores, often composed with Mark Kilian. Their collaborations include *Tsotsi* (2005), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, *Rendition* (2007), *Eye in the Sky* (2015) and *Official Secrets* (2019), all directed by Gavin Hood. Other credits include *Shepherds and Butchers* (2017) and *Kite* (2014).

Hepker has also composed for numerous television series, notably Discovery Channel programmes such as *Deadliest Catch*, and has worked extensively in theatre, receiving an Ovation Award and LA Weekly Awards for productions with the Circle X company.
