## Biography

Paul Horn (1930–2014) was an American flautist, saxophonist and composer. He studied clarinet and flute at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and earned a master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music in 1953. After moving to Los Angeles, he joined Chico Hamilton's quintet in 1956 and remained with the group until 1958.

Horn performed with the quintet in the film *Sweet Smell of Success* (1957). He later worked as a West Coast session musician and scored the animated series *Clutch Cargo* (1959). He appeared in Curtis Harrington's *Night Tide* (1961) and contributed to film soundtracks including *Seven Days in May* (1964). Horn received five Grammy nominations and later became known for pioneering new age and world music recordings.
