## Biography

Paul Lazar is an American actor and theatre director. He was born on 26 March 1955.

Lazar began working in New York theatre in the 1980s as a member of the Irondale Ensemble Project. In 1991 he co-founded Big Dance Theater with Annie-B Parson and Molly Hickok. He has also performed with The Wooster Group.

His film roles include Dr Pilcher in *The Silence of the Lambs* (1991), Dr Klenstein in *Philadelphia* (1993), Professor Duncan in *Lorenzo's Oil* (1992), Gillespie in *The Manchurian Candidate* (2004), Ritchie Vitale in *Mickey Blue Eyes* (1999), the American Doctor in *The Host* (2006) and Paul in *Snowpiercer* (2013). He has collaborated repeatedly with director Jonathan Demme.
