## Biography

Paul Maslansky was an American film producer. Born on 23 November 1933 in Rego Park, Queens, New York City, he made his producing debut with *The Castle of the Living Dead* (1964). He is best known for originating the premise of the *Police Academy* franchise and producing the 1984 film and its six sequels through to *Police Academy: Mission to Moscow* (1994).

His other credits include *Return to Oz* (1985) and *The Russia House* (1990). Maslansky also directed *Sugar Hill* (1974) and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for the 1978 miniseries *King*. He died on 2 December 2024 in Los Robles, California.
