## Biography

Paul Montague was a British production designer who worked primarily on BBC television series in the 1980s. His credits include production design on *The Mike Harding Show* (1979–1982), *The Consultant* (1983), *Sharon and Elsie* (1985), *Hell's Bells* (1986) and *ChuckleVision* (1988–1989).

He designed the sets for the first two series of the science-fiction sitcom *Red Dwarf* (1988), creating the spaceship interiors with a dingy, claustrophobic submarine aesthetic that established the visual template for the programme. Montague died on 10 January 2011.
