## Biography

Paul Uhl was an American cinematographer and camera technician. He began his career in the late 1930s, working in the camera and electrical departments on feature films, including as a Technicolor film loader on *Jesse James* (1939) and assistant camera on *The Man Who Knew Too Much* (1956) and *Vertigo* (1958).

In the late 1960s Uhl moved into television, serving as director of photography on one episode of the series *Mission: Impossible* (1969). He later photographed numerous episodes of *The Mary Tyler Moore Show* (1970–1974), *Rhoda* (1974–1975) and *The Bob Newhart Show* (1972–1978). Uhl was born on 17 June 1910 in Michigan and died on 23 December 2003 in Palm Desert, California.
