## Biography

Paul C. Vogel (22 August 1899 – 24 November 1975) was an American cinematographer. Born in New York City, he began his career in the 1920s and worked primarily at MGM, with a break for military service during the Second World War. He was a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.

Vogel's credits include *Lady in the Lake* (1947), *Battleground* (1949), *High Society* (1956), *The Time Machine* (1960) and *The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm* (1962). He won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography (Black-and-White) for *Battleground*. His brother, Joseph R. Vogel, was a vice president of Loew's and later president of MGM.
