## Biography

Paul Weatherwax (8 July 1900 – 13 September 1960) was an American film editor. Born in Sturgis, Michigan, he began his career editing silent films in 1928 and worked at studios including First National, Fox, RKO and Paramount.

He edited approximately 85 films. His credits include *The Naked City* (1948), for which he won an Academy Award for Best Film Editing, and *Around the World in 80 Days* (1956), on which he shared the award with Gene Ruggiero. Other notable work encompasses *The Woman in the Window* (1944), *It Came from Outer Space* (1953), *Revenge of the Creature* (1955) and *A Raisin in the Sun* (1961). He also provided uncredited assistance on the direction of *Star Spangled Rhythm* (1942) and *Vendetta* (1950).

Weatherwax died in West Hollywood, California.
