## Biography

Pauline Quirke is an English actress. She began her career as a child performer and appeared as Dixon in the 2004 BBC series *North & South*.

Quirke is best known for playing Sharon Theodopolopodous in the BBC sitcom *Birds of a Feather* (1989–1998, 2014–2017). Her other credits include *Broadchurch* (2013–2015) as Susan Wright, *Emmerdale* (2010–2012) as Hazel Rhodes, *The Sculptress* (1996) and *Distant Voices, Still Lives* (1988). She received an MBE in 2022 for services to young people, the entertainment industry and charity.

In 2025 her husband announced that she had retired from professional work following a dementia diagnosis in 2021.
