## Biography

Pedro Gonzalez Gonzalez was an American character actor and comedian. Born Ramiro Gonzalez Gonzalez on 24 May 1925 in Aguilares, Texas, he left school young to join a family performing act. After serving in the US Army during the Second World War, he worked as a stand-up comedian for Spanish-speaking audiences.

He first gained national attention in 1953 as a contestant on the television quiz show You Bet Your Life, hosted by Groucho Marx. John Wayne saw the appearance and cast him in several films, including The High and the Mighty (1954) and Rio Bravo (1959), in which Gonzalez Gonzalez played Carlos Robante. He appeared in other Wayne productions such as Hellfighters (1968) and Chisum (1970), as well as television series including Gunsmoke and I Dream of Jeannie. He was the brother of actor Jose Gonzales-Gonzales and the grandfather of actor Clifton Collins Jr. Gonzalez Gonzalez died on 6 February 2006 in Culver City, California.
