## Biography

Perry Ferguson (13 November 1901 – 27 December 1963) was an American art director and production designer. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, he worked in Hollywood from the mid-1930s until the early 1960s.

He is credited as production designer on *The Stranger* (1946) and served as art director on films including *Citizen Kane* (1941), *The Best Years of Our Lives* (1946), *Rope* (1948) and *The Bishop's Wife* (1947). He collaborated with Orson Welles on *Citizen Kane* and *The Stranger*.

Ferguson received five Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction. A photograph of him appears on a 2003 US postage stamp commemorating art direction for *Citizen Kane*.
