## Biography

Peter Allan Fields (1935–2019) was an American screenwriter and television producer. He began his career as a lawyer before transitioning to writing, starting with episodes of *The Man from U.N.C.L.E.* in the mid-1960s.

Over three decades he contributed scripts to series including *Columbo* (1971), *McCloud*, *The Six Million Dollar Man* (1974), *Knight Rider* (1982), *Xena: Warrior Princess* (1995) and *Man from Atlantis* (1977). He wrote three episodes of *Star Trek: The Next Generation* (1987), including "The Inner Light", and ten of *Star Trek: Deep Space Nine* (1993), such as "Duet" and "In the Pale Moonlight", and served as co-producer and producer on the latter's first two seasons. He received a Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation.
