Peter Best is an Australian composer. Born on 18 October 1943 in Adelaide, South Australia, he has composed scores for numerous feature films since the early 1970s.

His credits include *The Adventures of Barry McKenzie* (1972), *The Picture Show Man* (1977), *We of the Never Never* (1982), *Crocodile Dundee* (1986), *Crocodile Dundee II* (1988), *Muriel's Wedding* (1994), *Dad and Dave: On Our Selection* (1995) and *Doing Time for Patsy Cline* (1997). He has also written music for television series and commercials, including the 'Slip! Slop! Slap!' sun safety campaign.

Best has received several Australian Film Institute Awards for Best Original Music Score.
