## Biography

Peter Duffell (10 July 1922 – 12 December 2017) was an English film and television director and screenwriter. He studied English language and literature at the University of London and Keble College, Oxford, before beginning his career directing second features such as episodes of the Scotland Yard and Edgar Wallace Mysteries series, as well as documentaries and television commercials.

Duffell’s television credits include an episode of *The Avengers* (1967), six episodes of *Man in a Suitcase* (1967–68), an episode of *Inspector Morse* (1988) and work on *Play for Today*. His feature films include the horror anthology *The House That Dripped Blood* (1971), *England Made Me* (1973), *Inside Out* (1975), *Experience Preferred... But Not Essential* (1982) and *King of the Wind* (1990). He won the BAFTA award for Best Director for the television drama *Caught on a Train* (1980).
