## Biography

Sir Peter Hall was an English theatre, opera and film director. He directed the 1989 television film *She's Been Away*, written by Stephen Poliakoff and starring Peggy Ashcroft and Geraldine James.

Hall founded the Royal Shakespeare Company and served as its director from 1960 to 1968. He was director of the National Theatre from 1973 to 1988 and artistic director of Glyndebourne Festival Opera from 1984 to 1990. His other screen credits include the films *Akenfield* (1974) and *Never Talk to Strangers* (1995), and the television productions *Jacob* (1994) and *The Camomile Lawn* (1992).
