## Biography

Peter Lamont was a British production designer, art director and set decorator. Born in London in 1929, he began his career at Pinewood Studios as a runner and draughtsman in the late 1940s, later completing national service with the Royal Air Force before returning to the industry.

Lamont worked on eighteen James Bond films from *Goldfinger* (1964) to *Casino Royale* (2006), progressing from draftsman and set decorator to production designer from *For Your Eyes Only* (1981) onwards. He collaborated with James Cameron on *Aliens* (1986), *True Lies* (1994) and *Titanic* (1997), winning the Academy Award for best art direction for the latter. His other credits include *Fiddler on the Roof* (1971) and several Carry On films. He died in 2020.
