## Biography

Peter Murton was a British film art director and production designer. Born in London, he followed his father Walter W. Murton into the profession; his son Simon Murton later became an art director as well.

Murton worked as an art director for production designer Ken Adam on *Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb* (1964), *Goldfinger* (1964) and *Thunderball* (1965). He advanced to production designer on the James Bond film *The Man with the Golden Gun* (1974), for which he suggested Thailand as a primary location. His other production design credits include *The Ruling Class* (1972), *Death on the Nile* (1978), *Superman II* (1980), *Superman III* (1983), *Spies Like Us* (1985) and *Stargate* (1994).

Murton died in England in December 2009.
