Peter Smith, also credited as Peter K. Smith, is a British director, editor and writer. He was born on 3 February 1936 in Hampstead, North London.

Smith directed an episode of the police series *The Sweeney* in 1978. His other television credits include episodes of *Midsomer Murders*, *A Touch of Frost*, *Emmerdale*, *The Bill* and *The Storyteller*. Among his film and miniseries work are *A Private Enterprise* (1974), which he also wrote and edited, *No Surrender* (1985) and *A Perfect Spy* (1987).

His father, Trevor Smith, was a special foreign affairs correspondent for the London newspaper *The Herald*. Smith has received BAFTA nominations for his work.
