Peter Whitford is an Australian actor. Born in Adelaide in 1939, he trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, graduating in 1963.

He began his career in radio and theatre in the late 1950s before moving into television and film from the 1960s. Whitford is known for roles including Uncle Julius in *My Brilliant Career* (1979), Les Kendall in *Strictly Ballroom* (1992), the Stage Manager in *Moulin Rouge!* (2001) and appearances in *Farscape* (2002) and *Fool's Gold* (2008). His final screen credit was in the series *Rake* (2010). He has also worked as a playwright, director and singer.
