Philip John is a Welsh director and screenwriter. He has directed episodes of television series including *Ashes to Ashes* (2009) and *Downton Abbey* (2013–2015).

His other television credits include *Being Human*, for which he received BAFTA Cymru nominations for Best Director, *Outlander*, *New Tricks* and *Bang*. He directed the feature film *Moon Dogs* (2016), which premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and won Best International First Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh.

John was born in Newport, Wales. Earlier in his career he made several short films, including the BAFTA-nominated *Suckerfish*.
