## Biography

Philip Messina is an American production designer and art director. He was born on 19 February 1965 in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Messina has worked frequently with director Steven Soderbergh. His credits include production design on *Erin Brockovich* (2000), *Traffic* (2000), *Ocean's Eleven* (2001), *Ocean's Twelve* (2004), *The Good German* (2006) and *Ocean's Thirteen* (2007). He later designed the four *Hunger Games* films (2012–2015) and *mother!* (2017). More recent work includes *Kimi* (2022), *Heretic* (2024) and *Black Bag* (2025).

He is married to set decorator Kristen Toscano Messina, with whom he has collaborated on several projects.
