## Biography

Phyllis Dalton was a British costume designer. She received an Academy Award for her work on *Doctor Zhivago* (1965) and a second for *Henry V* (1989). She also designed the costumes for *Lawrence of Arabia* (1962), *Oliver!* (1968), *The Princess Bride* (1987) and *Much Ado About Nothing* (1993).

Dalton was born in London in 1925 and died in Somerset in 2025. She was appointed MBE in 2002 for services to the film industry. Her other credits include *The Man Who Knew Too Much* (1956) and three films directed by Kenneth Branagh. She won a BAFTA Award for *The Hireling* (1973) and a Primetime Emmy for *The Scarlet Pimpernel* (1983).
