Pierre Barbaud (1911–1990) was a French composer and actor. He composed scores for numerous films, including Agnès Varda’s *La Pointe Courte* (1955) and *The Creatures* (1966), as well as works by Chris Marker and Alain Resnais. He was a pioneer of algorithmic and computer-assisted composition, using early computers systematically from 1959.

Barbaud also appeared in minor acting roles, notably as the father in Resnais’s *Hiroshima Mon Amour* (1959) and as a hotel guest in *Last Year at Marienbad* (1961). Born in Saint-Eugène (now Bologhine), Algiers, Algeria, he died in Nice, France.
