## Biography

Pierre Batcheff was a French actor of Russian origin. He appeared in around twenty-five films between the mid-1920s and early 1930s.

He is known for his role as the Man in the surrealist short *Un Chien Andalou* (1929), directed by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí, and for playing General Louis Lazare Hoche in *Napoléon* (1927). He was married to film editor Denise Piazza.
