## Biography

Pierre Boileau (28 April 1906 – 16 January 1989) was a French writer of crime and mystery fiction. He is best known for his long collaboration with Thomas Narcejac, writing under the joint pseudonym Boileau-Narcejac. Together they produced more than forty novels, many of which were adapted for the screen.

Their novel *D'entre les morts* (1954) was the basis for Alfred Hitchcock’s *Vertigo* (1958). Boileau-Narcejac also wrote the screenplay for Georges Franju’s *Eyes Without a Face* (1960). Earlier, Boileau had written solo novels, including the Prix du Roman d’Aventures winner *Le Repos de Bacchus* (1938).
