Born in Paris, he entered the industry in the 1920s after early experience in Germany, Britain and the United States. In 1930 he formed a partnership with Roger Richebé; their company, Les Etablissements Braunberger-Richebé, produced Jean Renoir’s *La Chienne* (1931). Braunberger produced or co-produced numerous films with Renoir, including *Nana* (1926), *Tire-au-flanc* (1928) and *Partie de campagne* (1936). He later founded or operated several production companies and the Cinéma du Panthéon in Paris.
