## Biography

Pierre Spengler is a French film producer born on 5 June 1947 in Paris. He began working in the film industry in 1964 and held early roles including production assistant on films such as *The Madwoman of Chaillot* (1969), *Le Mans* (1971) and *The Light at the Edge of the World* (1971).

In 1972 he became a partner in the Salkind Organisation. Alongside Alexander and Ilya Salkind he secured the film rights to Superman and produced the first three films starring Christopher Reeve: *Superman* (1978), *Superman II* (1980) and *Superman III* (1983). He also worked on other Salkind productions including *The Three Musketeers* (1973), *The Prince and the Pauper* (1977) and *Santa Claus: The Movie* (1985), and served as consultant on *Supergirl* (1984).

Spengler left the Salkind Organisation in 1985 to work independently. His later credits include executive producer on *Underground* (1995), which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, and producer on *Unleashed* (2005). He appeared as himself in the 2024 documentary *Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story*.
