## Biography

Pierre-William Glenn (31 October 1943 – 23 September 2024) was a French cinematographer and film director. Born in Paris, he trained at the Institut des hautes études cinématographiques (IDHEC) and began working as a cinematographer in the late 1960s.

He served as director of photography on more than seventy films. His credits include *Day for Night* (1973) and *Loulou* (1980). He collaborated regularly with directors such as François Truffaut, Bertrand Tavernier (*The Watchmaker of St. Paul*, 1974; *Coup de Torchon*, 1981), Maurice Pialat and Alain Corneau. Glenn also directed films including the documentary *Le Cheval de fer* (1975).

He was known for technical innovations such as early use of Fuji film stock and work with Steadicam. He received the honours of Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and Officier of the Ordre national du Mérite.
